MENLO PARK, Calif. (AP) — Hyo Joo Kim held off Nelly Korda on Sunday at Sharon Heights to complete a wire-to-wire victory in the Fortinet Founders Cup.

Her opening five-stroke advantage gone after 10 holes, Kim regained the lead on the next hole and ended up with a one-shot margin after a closing bogey.

"I don't think I was necessarily shaken up or my emotions were all over the place," Kim said through a translator. "I was just trying to keep my focus on my shots and what I was doing."

우승 상금은 45만달러(약 6억7천만원).

김효주(31)가 LPGA(미 여자프로골프) 투어 통산 8번째 우승을 완성했다.

김효주는 23일(한국 시각) 미국 캘리포니아주 멘로파크의 샤론하이츠 골프 앤드 컨트리클럽(파72)에서 열린 LPGA 포티넷 파운더스컵(총상금 300만달러) 4라운드에서 버디 4개와 보기 5개로 1오버파를 쳐 합계 16언더파 272타로 우승을 차지했다. 지난해 3월 포드 챔피언십 이후 1년 만에 오른 투어 정상. 2015년 이 대회 정상에 올랐던 그는 11년 만에 우승컵을 다시 들어올리게 됐다. 우승 상금은 45만달러(약 6억7천만원).

이번 대회 3라운드까지 2위 넬리 코르다(미국)를 5타 차이로 제치고 단독 선두를 달린 김효주는 마지막 4라운드에서 타수를 좀처럼 줄이지 못하며 코르다에게 1타 차이로 쫓겼다. 하지만 승부처인 17번 홀(파3)에서 코르다가 1m 거리의 파 퍼트를 놓치고 보기를 기록하면서 승기를 잡고 와이어 투 와이어 우승을 거뒀다.

김효주는 다음주 포드 챔피언십에서 디펜딩 챔피언 자격으로 2연속 우승에 도전한다.
