Japan, US unveil up to $73bn 2nd round investment in reactors, gas power

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. and Japan on Thursday announced three projects totaling up to $73 billion for Japan's second round of U.S. investment under last year's tariff deal, with a continued focus on energy, including next-generation nuclear reactors.

미국과 일본 정부가 19일(현지시간) 일본의 대미 투자 2차 프로젝트로 소형모듈원자로(SMR), 천연가스 발전 시설 건설 등을 추진하기로 했다고 니혼게이자이신문(닛케이)이 보도했다.

이날 미일 정상회담 후 양국 정부가 공개한 공동 문서에 따르면 해당 프로젝트의 사업 규모는 최대 730억 달러(약 109조원)다. 이는 지난달 발표된 1차 프로젝트 규모인 360억 달러(약 54조원)의 두 배가 넘는다
