US authorities detain up to 450 ‘unlawful aliens’ at Hyundai Motors in Georgia

Up to 450 “unlawful aliens” at a Hyundai Motor production facility in Georgia have been detained in a major raid by US law enforcement and immigration authorities, the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) said on Friday.

Earlier, news reports said South Korean nationals at the facility, a joint venture production site of battery maker LG Energy Solution and Hyundai Motor, had been detained by US immigration authorities in a raid.

미국 법 집행 기관과 이민 당국이 대대적인 단속을 실시해 조지아주에 있는 현대자동차 생산 시설에서 최대 450명의 "불법 체류 외국인"을 구금했다고 미국 주류·담배·화기·폭발물 관리국(ATF)이 금요일에 밝혔습니다.

앞서 보도된 바에 따르면, 배터리 제조사인 LG에너지솔루션과 현대자동차의 합작 생산 시설에 있는 한국인들이 미국 이민 당국의 단속으로 구금됐다고 합니다.
